About Us
The St John's Mill charity was established in 2000 as a Millennium project supported by the island's churches and was designed to provide a central facility for training and activities which would contribute to the whole island community. As a Christian initiative its objective is 'Seeking the Inspiration of Christ for our Community'.The Mill was opened by Bishop Noel Jones in April 2003 after 2 years of sensitive restoration work on the derelict building. The original water wheel was carefully restored and completed in July 2009.
It is overseen and managed by a board of Trustees and a small number of employed staff, plus many faithful volunteers, working together as an open community to offer a warm welcome to all who visit or use the venue.
Since its inception, The Mill has worked with businesses, government departments, charities, community groups, organisations and individuals, churches and the voluntary sector, providing an outstanding venue for many hundreds of events, as well as working in partnership on a range of initiatives that have been of benefit to the community.
